ABOUT US
DEDICATED TO FINDING THE RIGHT HOME FOR EACH DOG
We are a proud UK-registered organization dedicated to finding the perfect home for every dog. Entirely run and staffed by volunteers, our mission is driven by love, compassion, and a commitment to giving each dog the best possible life.
COMPASSION KNOWS NO BORDERS
Our dedication to rescuing dogs extends beyond the UK. We believe every dog deserves a loving home, regardless of where they come from. That's why we rescue and rehome owner-surrendered or abandoned dogs from the UK, but also as far afield as Romania, Greece, Cyprus and even Egypt. Whenever there's a dog in need, we're ready to help.
OUR APPROACH
We’re not in a hurry to rehome our dogs; instead, we focus on building their trust, confidence, and social skills while they stay with us. Our kennels provide a safe and nurturing environment for as long as it takes to prepare each dog for their forever home and our network of foster homes enables us to maximize our ability to assist as many dogs as possible. Our foster homes play a crucial role in our mission, providing temporary, loving home environments where dogs can thrive while waiting for their forever homes.
OUR COMMITMENT
Every dog we rescue is unique, and so is our approach to finding them the right home. We take the time to understand each dog's personality, needs, and quirks, ensuring they find a family that suits them perfectly.
Join us in our mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome dogs in need. Together, we can make a difference, one wagging tail at a time.
Thank you for your support and compassion!
We are thrilled to announce that our charity status was approved on 16 September 2022.
This will make a massive difference to us in terms of fundraising and help reduce some of our running costs.
WHAT PEOPLE SAY
CATHRYN, ADOPTED BERTIE
I completed the adoption form on the website, and within 24 hours had been contacted about a possible hound! We are a family with two young children (4 & 6), so I was worried that we wouldn't even be considered. However, lots of questions were asked and previous experience taken into account, and we were good to go! We were frequently kept updated about the progress of Bertie from Romania here to the UK. Once he arrived, we were able to visit him at the kennels and even take him out for walks! Once Bertie was settled enough he came home with us, and it's like he's always been here!
The communication and service received from Helping Hounds has been exemplary. They kept us fully informed throughout the process, and have checked in with us since Bertie has been home. Helping Hounds does an amazing job matching dogs in need with their forever homes, and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.
AIMEE, ADOPTED GIO
From point of application, to matching, home checks and eventually bringing Gio home, the Helping Hounds team have been brilliant. We've thoroughly appreciated their support and expertise throughout the process.
We would not hesitate to go to Angie and the team first if we were to extend our family further. They really do look for the best owner for the dogs rescued.
We've really appreciated the post-adoption support we have received too; the advice and reassurance has been invaluable!
JULIA, ADOPTED OBI
As a groomer, I volunteer my services when any of the rescue dogs need it. I adopted Obi in October 2020, the whole process couldn’t have been easier, the wonderful team at HH did everything they could to help me, however what stood out the most was the way that Obi and all other dogs were all so loved and cared for by everyone on the team, they couldn’t ask for a better start to their new lives.

ALEXANDRA, ADOPTED LOLA
Helping Hounds are extremely friendly and ensure that not only are the dogs put into the right home, but the after care is superb. Before I adopted Lola, I was able to take her for walks and ask as many questions as I could.
Once I had adopted her, I received lots of aftercare calls to ensure she had settled in ok and all was well.
Helping Hounds are genuinely very caring and are always on the end of the phone to offer assistance and support should you need it. A truly lovely organisation.
TRACEY, ADOPTED MOLLY
I cannot recommend Helping Hounds highly enough. When I decided that I wanted to rescue another dog I trolled through the internet until I found one that would fit our family perfectly as we have various other animals. Angie and all the volunteers were very helpful and kept me up to date with her progress and some beautiful photos. The team are all volunteers and give up their time to help these animals. I cannot rate them highly enough. Molly, my gorgeous little girl has settled in so well and without the love from at Helping Hounds here and abroad, this would not have been possible. Thank you for making our family complete.
LYNN, ADOPTED ROUX
I adopted Roux through Kate in 2015 when Kate rescued her and her two sisters. I fostered her, but fell hopelessly in love with her! I can highly recommend Kate and fostering a rescue dog for the ultimate reward. Have since fostered other dogs who have gone on to find wonderful forever homes!
